Sweet Simplicity: Easy Penuche Fudge

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 1 5 oz. can evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pecans or walnuts roughly chopped
  • Non-stick spray as needed

Instructions
 

  • Directions:
  • Prepare the Pan: Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with non-stick spray and line it with parchment paper.
  • Melt Butter and Sugar: In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the butter with the brown sugar over medium-low heat until the sugar dissolves, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add Milk and Boil: Pour in the evaporated milk and bring the mixture to a boil, then remove from heat and let cool for 30 minutes.
  • Incorporate Flavorings: Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  • Beat in Powdered Sugar: Gradually beat in the powdered sugar until smooth and fully incorporated.
  • Fold in Nuts: Mix in the chopped nuts, then pour the mixture into the prepared pan.
  • Chill and Set: Refrigerate for 20-25 minutes, or until the fudge is set.
  • Slice and Serve: Once set, slice the fudge into pieces and serve.
